Early spring, you can’t beat it. The garden is awake, bulbs are blooming, buds are bursting, birds are singing and you are in a race against the clock to get as much done as possible – tidying, weeding, mulching, lifting, dividing, and don’t even talk to me about the pruning…A gardener’s home is easily identified by the crammed window sills – seed trays and chitting seed potatoes taking up every available inch. In the garden centre we can’t move for sacks of seed potatoes, seeds, bulbs, feeds, and all the ‘things’ that we gardeners love to buy. Wish we just had a bigger shed.

A Greener Garden Centre
The Secret Garden is tucked away in the beautiful countryside of North Cork. Stocking a wide range of plants, trees, shrubs, perennials and gardening sundries, it’s the perfect place to come and find something different for your garden. We may be a little off the beaten track, but we think we’re worth the journey!
Many of our visitors describe The Secret Garden as being North Cork’s prettiest garden centre, as the garden centre naturally flows into our own established garden which is abundant with wildlife making a visit a relaxing occasion. The ducks and hens will always greet you as they wander through the garden centre. If you’re looking for inspiration, order a cup of coffee and some gorgeous cake from the tea room, grab one of our gardening books and find a quiet corner to hide away in and enjoy the birdsong and tranquillity.
The Secret Garden Centre is a family run business that was established in 1996 by the previous owners. The current owners Sarah and Brian took over in May 2002. It has developed and grown in the past nine years to become recognised as one of Munster’s leading Garden Centres while still retaining a personal touch.
Our hard work has paid off with the garden centre receiving several awards. In February 2008 The Secret Garden was awarded the Bord Bia 3 star rating, as well as Best Specialist Garden Centre at the National Amenity Horticulture Awards. Plants are what they do and they do them very well with a focus on choice and good quality, presented in an attractive personal way.”
